LOPE-C 2012
experiences rapid growth
(Final Report)
After three days, the LOPE-C (Large-area, Organic and Printed Electronics Convention) closed its doors on 21 June 2012 with a huge increase in attendance. Over 1,560 visitors from all over the world attended the 4th exhibition and conference for organic and printed electronics, which was held in Munich for the first time. This represents an increase of over 36 percent. Especially noteworthy was the event's international character with visitors from 46 countries - an increase of 58 percent. In addition to Germany, the top five countries of origin were the United States, Great Britain, France, Republic of Korea and Japan. With 189 speakers from 27 countries, the event enjoyed an increase in this area as well. The trade fair being held at the same time grew by 14 percent with 104 exhibitors from 17 countries showing their latest application and manufacturing solutions. The exhibition space grew by roughly 40 percent from 2011 to 3,500 square meters. The LOPE-C was organized for the first time jointly by Messe München International and the OE-A (Organic and Printed Electronics Association).
Wolfgang Mildner, General Chair of the LOPE-C and Managing Director of PolyIC, draws the following conclusion after the three-day event: "Organic and printed electronics is a rapidly growing industry. Having Messe München as a partner sets the stage for the continued growth of this event. With its strong organization and infrastructure, Messe München offers the flexible expandability LOPE-C needs for its rising conference attendance and the rapid growth of the exhibition."
Norbert Bargmann, Deputy CEO of Messe München, says about the successful start in the Bavarian capital: "The ICM - International Congress Center Munich once again proved to be a successful incubator for new technologies. In addition, the LOPE-C clearly benefited from the synergies Messe München provides: Besides addressing exhibitors and visitors from the New Technologies segment with our electronica, productronica and LASER events, we are very successful at targeting the user side as well. With our BAU, drinktec, transport logistic and ISPO events we host the world's leading trade fairs for the future application markets of the LOPE-C."
189 speakers from 27 countries provided valuable insights and a comprehensive overview of the entire industry. Dr. Klaus Hecker, Managing Director of the OE-A (Organic and Printed Electronics Association), stressed the importance of the LOPE-C as the leading industry event: "The three days of the LOPE-C has been a unique opportunity for exchanging information on an international level between representatives from the fields of research, development and industry. This kind of networking with the user side provides new impulses for the industry."
The event also exceeded the expectations of Thomas Kolbusch, Vice President of Coatema Coating Machinery and Exhibition Chair of the LOPE-C: "We are exceptionally pleased with both the level of attendance and the quality of the contacts. Particularly the Demo Center, in which complete production sequences were shown 'live' for the first time, was a huge success."
